Before the Rain, Steppe captures that loaded stillness in a wide horizontal composition of warm golden ochre earth under a vast sky of muted violet, grey and dusty blue. A single white structure barely visible at the horizon. Everything else is space.
Palette knife impasto builds the ground into something physical and present. The sky is painted thinly, almost transparently — light pressing through from behind.
